Why Throne Dynamics pursues hard industrial assets.
It’s very bad when critical continuity industries fail.
Modern society and civilization depend in large part on the successful and uninterrupted operation of specific kinds of services, without which they rather quickly descend into disorder, disease, destruction, and death at significant scale.
We’ll just call that chain of events “dystopia” to simplify the discussion here.
Look around you and it’s not difficult to observe dystopia sliding its way forward into the current time. This is not merely a social or cultural observation; this is very critically an infrastructure observation and it goes far beyond crumbling bridges, suburban potholes, and the abandoned areas of once-great cities.
When power goes out, water is shut off, food shipments cease, trash piles up, pharmacies close, and transportation halts - it is very bad.
People get sick, desperate, and violent very quickly. Competition for net-zero resources and services becomes highly antagonistic. Previously trusted relationships crumble. Unfriendly acts and hostile intentions escalate.

In your encounters and engagements with human beings, recall always that they are the apex predator of the known universe and never underestimate.

The State may or may not have the capacity, coherence, or competence to intervene when dystopia tips into dominance.
Bluntly put, most likely it won’t. And just like the State, the ability of non-governmental organizations such as the International Red Cross to alleviate misery, suffering, and collapse is also beholden to critical continuity industries.
“Ivan, that’s why I cache food and ammunition!”
I have nothing against preppers. It’s a good hobby, a useful practice, and it’s good to be prepared for peacetime episodes of scarcity or mild civic unrest where you may need to ride out a few weeks of scarcity, weather, or other low-scale interruptions of normal and expected community services.
“Ivan, I have guns and plenty of ammunition!”
I’m going to make something very clear here to those of you who have fantasies of standing over your caches and defending them from wandering miscreants.
In times of mild civic unrest, sure.
You’ll be able, perhaps, to singlehandedly scare off looters and “youths” and perhaps even rioters with properly prepared demonstrations of gunfire, and often it won’t even get that far. Most defensive firearm use doesn’t actually involve a shooting; the brandish is often sufficient to dissuade.
That said, we’re not talking about that kind of situation.
Starving men are not intimidated, because they are going to die anyway.
Lone wolves and their families, no matter how well-armed, are not up to defending homestead caches in the circumstances they envision.
I’m going to digress here and explain why.
First, those who will be coming for you are not coming for your food and supplies; they are coming for you. Their intent is not to raid your possessions but eliminate you from the Earth; and the simple truth is that even a well-defended ranch with pre-sighted lines of fire is not equipped to handle fifteen or twenty private military contractors who have decided to liquidate the occupants.
“Ivan, I fought in Vietnam!”
I don’t care, Boomer, and neither does reality.
Let me explain how this really works.
First, you have set up a defensive posture that cannot be sustained. Unless your home is designed from the ground up as a fire base - meaning, it’s not really a home but a military compound set up to repel significant incoming kinetics from well-trained combatants working in professional concert under explicit and seasoned leadership - it will quickly be overrun and the fact of your incipient resistance will precipitate complete slaughter upon that overrun.
You won’t bargain for your survival by offering to share or “work with” armed actors engaged in non-international armed conflict. They don’t share, they lay waste.
They don’t “capture” your location, they harvest it.
It’s not about you and your stuff, but ground dominance of terrain.
You’re just a soft pink surface aspect of it, easily wiped clean.
“Ivan, I’m a combat veteran, I know how to fight.”
There is an enormous difference between military service with massive industrial backup, professional logistical trail, and clear uniformed command and coherence - and the reality of defending an unfortified position in the civilian environment without any of that support, against men who don’t care about your children.
You will be killed, your gear will be taken, and that is the reality.
And with this made clear, let’s switch back to why the Company advances its work to seize critical continuity industries in its arenas of noncooperative engagement.
To begin with, there is a difference between a community that engages in defensive operations and a household. One has a chance, the other does not. And that comes down to observable and predictable disparities in broader areas of contested terrain and also the simple law of numbers.
I’ll share here a comment from a law enforcement guest instructor at a ninja training event many decades ago that bears repeating for the simple blunt reality it highlights:
If ten guys want you, can they have you?
The answer is adamantly yes even in those mild times of civic unrest. Extrapolate that to private military contractors and similar professional entities and you’ll quickly realize why refugees are such a constant, continuous, and predictable result of non-international armed conflict.
Just as with the avalanche model, an invading military force of irregulars is not something to stick around and attempt opposition to or even negotiation with.
In times of absolute dystopia, beggars are murdered for amusement.

No in the sense that we are not selfish raptors, seizing and withdrawing these assets from the communities they serve. Our sacred purpose is fulfillment of our duty of the State and the preservation of heritage and legacy. We uphold that duty by fully shouldering the burdens that are incumbent upon every legitimate State:
Safety and security
Sustenance and provision
Identity and meaning
